3D printing in dentistry enables convenient and multiple solutions.

The construction of dental molds for any solution, but especially for CAD / CAM restorations can now be found in 3D printing solutions where a printer builds the structure in layers of a resinous material. Professionals can now print prototypes for casting partial denture frameworks, orthodontic retainers, pre-surgical implant positioning casts. The printing is preceded by a digital imaging/design of the models/restorations. This is achieved either by intraoral recording devices (eg Sirona Omnicam, Lava COS, Itero, 3Shape Trios), or by digitizing a conventional impression.
